Hi
Treatment options depend on the extent of the endo and your individual symptoms, eg. some women have really heavy bleeding, others have severe pain but not extreme bleeding, some have both! However this will also typically relate at least to some extent to how old you are, where typically the older you are the more severe the endo will be x
I'm 42 and was diagnosed 20+ years ago.
I have had surgery (including 6+ laparoscopies, laser treatment and one laparotomy), mirena coil and medication.
I have been very fortunate to have had three children.
Best wishes,
Barbara.
yes to some degree it does.
The GnRH therapy is not tested on nor nor is it suitable for any child or teen who has not stopped fully growing their bones. It should never be prescribed to under 18s with endo.
Mirena is not recommended till someone if fully grown either, but it can still be used if inserted by a specialist.
Most of the BC pill options and the arm implants are okay on younger ladies.
The GnrH drugs carry greater risks in older ladies in their 40s , of long term permanent damage to short termemory function /cognative impairment and should not be used in that age group without due care.
Surgery is not age restricted, but can be weight restricted and also limited to a certain number of procedures in the same place in a lifetime..due to the build up of scar tissue.
Endo diet should not be followed until a teen has stopped growing due to the reduction in food groups needed for healthy bone development.
to some extent age does play a part in this but so to do other factors. we are all different cases when it comes to endo.
