i have a bicornuate uterus..split in two halves, the bowel and bladder were stuck together, one ove was stuck between the bowel and it's half of the uterus. Had a big hole op and the bowel worked much better afterwards, the bladder went in to muscle spasms that lasted 17 months but happy beyond words to report that it too decided to get better all by itself after all that time and start working properly. (but that can happen with any gynae surgery so is not directly attributable to the cutting free of my organs.

They were all stuck with adhesions , and because i was in to my 40s before the endo was discovered and i had been having symptoms nearly 30 years by then, the adhesion issue was a major one, so too was the endo which is everywhere.

But surgery wise it did take a long time too recover (well a long time in my world - about 4-5 months for healing and the wretched 17 months of bladder problems, I am all clear of that now. I guess the adhesions may have regrown but they don't (touch wood) appear to be troubling me. The only daily grumble is a new ovarian cyst which gives me a long of annoyance and pain at times .

No periods now due to having mirena installed and my discomfort factor is soooooooo much better than it used to be. Overall surgery was a success eventually, just not right away.

Hi

I'm currently mid way through surgery to separate things, everything was very stuck together, had a lap nearly 6 weeks ago where my ovaries were unstuck from my pelvis and uterus and bladder unstuck and work on adhesions and I'm having a further lap in a couple of weeks to separate uterus and bowel - so far I can't comment on its success as still on prostap injections so I won't know how well its worked until my system kicks back in. My biggest fear is that my organs will start to get stuck together again too quickly but I was in such a mess I needed the surgery and will be keeping my fingers crossed it works. My biggest tip if you decide to have surgery to unstick things is to make sure you have a very very good surgeon who is an actual endo specialist, my original specialist was an endo specialist but was honest enough to admit that the surgery I needed was beyond his capabilities and so he referred me on to a more specialised surgeon who I fully trusted to help me.

Thank you for getting back to me. The doc has never mentioned surgery to unstick it but I feel I should have more options rather than injections with HRT. He said if I don't do that then its maybe surgery (although he said its too dangerous to laser where it is!) plus I have had laser before, it did work thankfully, or live with it!.

I had everything stuck together, bowel out of place etc. I underwent an op called "total radical excision' where the whole lining of the peritonium was removed. Also had recto/vaginal endo removed, shaved off bowel and bladder and diaphragm. Tool over 7.5 hours but all done keyhole. It had the effect of removing all endo and unsticking everything. That was 2 years 8 months ago and I have been absolutely fine since. It was with one of the top endo consultant surgeons. Like hayls says above, it does need to be a really experienced consultant. Some do excision surgery but only remove patches and sometimes say they cant remove it all.

Thank you for your comments. You get fed up on this rollercoaster eh. 1 doc tells you one thing then another tells you a very different story.

Hi there. I had my lap in feb and my right ovary was stuck to my bowel. Luckily I have private insurance so I got to choose the surgeon whose speciality was endo. He separated everything for me and put 2 litres of fluid into my abdomen to stop it all sticking back together which once I had recovered front the op (about 4 weeks later) I felt fantastic. Unfortunately were now in September and I feel like I may be stuck together all over again. Same pulling and stabbing pains I used to get. I was advised to get a mirena coil fitted ASAP but as I got dvt in my leg after surgery I wasn't allowed one. Now I fear I'm too late as the damage may already be done. I would advise that you get mirena inserted ASAP to stop everything sticking back together. X

Thank you for your comments. I am on injections backed with HRT. Doc hopes to keep me on it all for good few years. But unfortunately I have been getting the short stabbing pains in my right side where its all stuck. Don't know if it will settle or gradually get worse.

Hi haven't been on for ages. I had the surgery 5 half yrs ago. Took me about 3-4 months to recover. Was great to start with but about 9 months after surgery the pains started coming back again. About 6 months later I was back to square one. But that was just because it wasn't all removed. They could only take so much away without damaging the other organs. But every case is different. That was just my experience. Good luck. Love and light xx

Thank you for your comments. The more we hear stories (good or bad) and peoples difficult life's it makes you think that its something we will always have in our life's. Its finding a way to deal and live with it, which is so frustrating and depressing.

I had my endo surgery to separate my bowel and uterus. I still feel sore, and I am wondering when I will feel normal again. I am almost 8 wks past my op. Good luck to you though hope you heal quickly. Advice follow the doctors orders, give your body time to heal and pray.

Hi bachoo

I'm 6 weeks post op today, had quite a lot of work done, and I'm still sore and really struggle with driving, can't cope with anything more than 15 mins yet I work over an hour away! Have you gone back to work yet? I just want some normality for a couple of weeks as having another lap in 2.5 weeks :(

I am going out to work on the 1st of October. I hope I can cope with it, because on saturday I did traveled to go by my fam doc and it took a lot out of me (fatigue and pain). He thinks I am still in too much pain (because I had my surgery on the 7th of August) and told me to see my surgeon, however this would not be possible until after I go back out to work. I will let you know how I feel when I actually do start to work again.

Hey yes I had this surgery in February. The condition is called a frozen pelvis and is basically severe adhesions

can I ask then why you are waiting surgery if the injections and HRT work? I am on both at present also.

Hi again aabb

I am also on prostap injections, have been for nearly a year now and they have worked really well for me also, however have had surgery to unstick everything and remove endo because otherwise as soon as I stop the injections I will be back to square one and I'm not prepared to wait for the prostap to wear off and the endo get really bad again before i go back to have the surgery, particularly as my gynae reckons i would be bad within 1 month of my cycles returning. Unfortunately the injections are a pause button only and you can't stay on them forever, they are only licensed for 6 months but gynaes often let us stay on them longer but its not ideal to stay on them longer and they are not treatment as such. Also many surgeons prefer doing the surgery whilst you are still on the injections as everything is a lot calmer inside and easier to unstick, my gynae tried to unstick my ovaries last year but couldn't and had to leave them whereas he managed it fine in August whilst I was on the prostap injections x

Zoladex injections only work for endo, they do not work for adhesions (this was said to me by a gyne). I had laparoscopy and hysteroscopy to remove extensive adhesions, ovary stuck to bowel and fallopian tube stump (prev removed due to endo) restuck to bowel. They removed as much as was safe to do due to proximity to bowel (risk of perforation). Worked initially but came back, I still get right pelvic pinching pain which causes low back and hip pain, can't bear tight waistbands and bowel and bladder problems. Sorry, can't say more as I am devastated as my dear dad had a terrible fall followed by a stroke and can only now say the odd words, incontinent and confused and agitated in hospital and my thoughts are presently on him not my pain, although it kept me awake half the night. Please pray for him, thanks.

Hi ive just found this post and think I am due for a similar op (one ovary stuck to abdominal wall and one embedded deep under my bowel). The dye test that was done did not go through my tubes but could this be as a result of everything being so stuck together? And if so does anyone know how successful surgery is in regards to fertility? I had my lap last week and they found severe adhesions but no post op appointment for 3 months. Im very frustrated as I have a million and one questions I want to ask!
