I have myself tried mushrooms (normal button mushrooms 1-2kg/week) - certainly had an effect both against the pain, nausea and inflammation but appeared to cause havoc with my hormone levels - too variable in the end. In June this year I started drinking green tea daily combined with nettle tea (antihistamin) and slowly started to feel better. Thought it might have been a coincidence (better weather and plenty of sunshine will also have an antiinflammatory effect) but stopped the tea completely for almost 3weeks as we were away on holiday (hurrah - I was well enough to fly and go off on holiday!!!). By end of week 2 started to feel worse again (nothing unusual feeling ill with endo.. - as most people I have been disappointed so many times over the last couple of years - feeling better and then worse again). So back home I eventually started back on daily green teas end of week 3. After one week of drinking tea three times a day, symptoms abated and now after another 3 weeks I'm 'on top of the world' - I can cut pain medication by half - some days 3/4!! and have soo much more energy. It may only be temporary but it would be interesting to hear of other peoples' experience - both if you have been prescribed aromatase inhibitors or if you have found something else (natural?) that appears to work over a longer period.
Hi, has anybody had any experience of usi... - Endometriosis UK
Hi, has anybody had any experience of using aromatase inhibitors? Natural or as prescribed drugs.
Yes me. Letrozole. I am currently on my 4th month of them alongside norethisterone and feel fantastic the majority of the time but I have had 3 migraines and 2 bowel cramps in the 4 months. It did take around 3 weeks for them to start taking affect? I do feel great most of the time but as you know don't want to speak too soon. I have to take norethisterone to stop my ovary,s producing eggs. I am coming off them at the end of this cycle as am having lap a month later and I have read that you should stop taking norethisterone around a month before an operation as it affects bleeding. So have to stop the aramatase inhibitor too. But I will take them again right after op. I take lots of supplements to counteract side effects like vit D, B and calcium, some other things but only supplements, nothing heavy and the only side effects I have had are the odd bone ache and I do suffer from these hot sweats, but it does make a nice change as I am usually always cold, lol. Up to now I would definitely recommend them as it helps shrink endo and keeps the pain away which is fab for all of us. I want to stay on them forever, it is my wonder drug! X
Hi wp22, thank you for your reply! Hope you're having a good day. Would you know if prescribing Letrozole (and norethisterone) is the normal procedure or a trial/expreminent at your gynea centre (your consultant)? The reason I'm asking is that I have only found very little references to it in conjunction with endometriosis - it doesn't appear to be part of the standard approach? It would be interesting to learn a bit more and it's really good to hear that it appears to work so well (fingers crossed xxxxxx). All the best for your lap xx ke
