How soon can I exercise after surgery?

Only a bluish module was found, which they cut out. No other major work done to me. I feel very lucky! Although in the scan they found adenomyosis. I had my operation a week ago and wondered when I could do some stretches etc.

I can't walk far at the moment or lift heavy objects but would like some basic advice.

10 weeks after stomach surgery if you feel you want to try it. You must give the cut muscles a really good chance to heal and knit together again. Stomach muscles are needed for so many exercises and activities the last thing you want is to have a set back and delay that healing process. besides the fact that tearing them again will hurt.

Gentle walks and general household work is ample if you are up to it. No lifting shopping bags for probably 3 weeks at least. Remember you have been stabbed several times right through tummy muscles and they take a lot longer to knit together and be strong enough to withstand exercise than skin tissue. The skin holes will heal up very quickly in most cases, but what's underneath does take some time.

If you do undertake any stretch or activity that causes a twinge or pain then stop and give yourself a couple more weeks before trying that again. There is no hard and fast rule as we all heal as different paces, but far better to be safe than sorry.

Hi, I've started some light excercise (cycling and run/walk) this week and its been 6 weeks since my lap to excise stage 4 endo and endometrial ablation.

I waited until I felt we'll enough in myself, and had enough energy to move a but more.

Hope you have a speedy recovery.

Hi I think I was able to start exercising about a month after my last lap, I went for long walks too soon I think, it was rather painful and I should have waited a bit longer I think xx
