What are the best vitamins to take with E... - Endometriosis UK
What are the best vitamins to take with Endo, I'm vegetarian too so I don't want to over do it. As I take a multi-vitamin for that.
I would recommend looking into ways of getting Omega3's into your diet.

What are good vegetarian sources of omega-3 fatty acids?
Sources of omega-3 fatty acids suitable for vegetarians include:
flaxseed oil
rapeseed oil
soya oil and soya-based foods (such as tofu)
walnuts
omega-3 fortified egg
Evidence suggests that the type of omega-3 fatty acids found in these foods may not have the same benefits for reducing the risk of heart disease as those found in oily fish.
However, if you follow a vegetarian diet, you can look after your heart by eating at least five portions of a variety of fruit and vegetables every day, cutting down on food that is high in saturated fat and watching how much salt you eat.
Reason for this is that omega 3's reduce inflamation and has been shown to reduce endo growth development in rat studies.. this was the animal sourced omega3 though, apparently the animal sourced omega3 is different but still, its worth keeping an eye on your omega 3 levels if you are veggie... even more important if you have an inflammatory condition like endo
I just need to add, and its obviously personal choice however I avoid soya like the plague now.
I started taking DIM, propolis, multi vitamin and fish oils after my last op but I'm not very good at remember to take them, In reality I take the fish oils more frequently as I find them easier to swallow!
Hi. I'm vegan & only recently been diagnosed at 44!
Soya is very bad for endo along with dairy , wheat , caffeine , alcohol & refined sugar.
I cut out soya & wheat a week ago & notice quite a change pain wise .
I don't take any supplements other that starflower oil & black cohosh . My gp says I'm really not in need of any after doing bloods.
My only issue is iron which I can't keep in my system so I eat loads of sesame seeds/ dried apricots & kale or spinach.
For omega I take chia seeds which are a super food. One of the most healthy things you can have. You need to up your fluid with them though & best to eat them soaked.
For B vitamins I use marmite a lot & nutritional yeast ( known as noosh) .
Hope that helps xx
I'm glad this sparked a discussion about soya, I simply copy pasted the nhs advice for vegetarians but I should have read more closely (normally trust the NHS but lesson learned ; ))
I have also cut out all soya because of the phytoestrogens.
It is personal choice what you include or avoid in your diet but I suggest that you work with trial and error on your symptoms and base your decisions on your own research online. For example I have cut out soya because it contains phytoestrogens and oestrogen increases endo symptoms and growths but there are many things that people tell you to avoid and having a really restrictive diet comes with its own risks.
Xx
Thanks so much for all your help, I have started to avoid all soya which i had been taking plenty of & i find myself alot better for it. I now take milk thistle & one or two other supplements I was advised to take. It takes so much off your mind knowing what your eating isn't aggrevating your symptoms worse. althought it's so hard saying no to all them nice things I normally eat. But i would rather be healthy than that

High B12 - as a veg you are at a very high risk of having inadequate B12. Also, MSM (the crystal pure form 3-5 mg if not more daily but start at a lower dose), take Serrapeptase (on empty stomach 1 hour before a meal or 3 hrs after) - 80K 2-3 times daily, DIM (to block/flus out estrogen), D3 w/Vit K1 & 2 to help absorb - min 5K daily (I take 10K for years now w/o any issues). pm me if you have any questions. CoQ10 is fantastic as well.
