Hello! I'm new here I'm looking for advice about a possible allergy please
For the past few months I've had a bunged up feeling in my ears, sometimes it hurts a little too. I try the holding your nose and blowing but it always comes straight back. I've also tried, olive oil, Otex, decongestants and massaging near my ears. I've also tried having lactose free milk and limiting dairy.
None of these things have made it any better, in fact the past few days it has got worse and my ears are feeling a bit sore and almost dry inside. Also my tongue has been a bit sore at times too for no reason! I did try an allergy tablet a few days ago but it made me feel worse. I also always have a cough that starts up when I start eating and at random times, I've had it a long while. That's been checked out before at the doctors and they couldn't find any reason.
I'm struggling to figure out what it could be! Any advice would be great please if anyone has any.
Thank you

Allergies show themselves in many ways. I like you had ear and nose symptoms- but also fatigue and stomach/ digestive issues and hives. As I had more problems with digestion I was put on a low fodmap diet by my GP while I am waiting for a gastro appointment. You really need a dietitian to help you navigate cutting food groups out - mine has been super helpful. One of my problems was having reactions to low fodmap foods as well as high ones. Still re-introducing foods now (it takes a long time! ) but I have found that I am intolerant of gluten, possibly allergic to carrageenan (E407) , and lime cordial, something in Warburtons gluten free bread gives me hives and I can't eat chicken.
I know when I eat something wrong now as my nose starts running almost straight away. Most days are stuffy nose free now.
You could ring the doctor to see if you have an ear infection. If the ears hurt you may have a mild infection. The doctor can prescribe antibiotics if so.
Thank you Meggiemog and Alicemarsh for your reply :-)I do feel quite tired a lot of the time, I'm not sure if that's because it can be a struggle to get comfortable and go to sleep though.
The doctor said that a while ago that I could have irritable bowel as I can have some issues with that! That has actually mostly calmed down since I've been having lactose free milk though.
I think I need to give them a ring, which of course I'm not looking forward to! You never know it could be something simple and antibiotics make me feel better if it is an ear infection.
The ears sound like tinnitus. Sometimes they ring or buzz or hum but are almost always congested. Your tongue may be sore because of TMJ which causes a clenched jaw during moments of anxiety or stress, either that or “geographic tongue”. Without pictures I’m purely speculating. If you are coughing during or after a meal I would surmise that it’s dysphasia or possibly acid erosion (GERD) causing the issue. These are all symptoms (including the hay fever) of an autoimmune disorder or connective tissue disorder. I would suggest an appointment with a Rheumatologist or immunology or allergist. Any of them should be able to get you taken care of. I hope this helps.
