I have hEDS and I had a Gastroscopy 2 days ago. They took biopsies and since the procedure I haven’t been able to eat or drink anything without doubling up with pain, as food or drink enter my stomach.
I had three Gastroscopies in the past with no ill effects whatsoever. ( not sure they took oesophageal biopsies then though)
Water is a little better this morning but dread trying to eat anything
Went to A&E as Pain was so bad 24 hrs later and they didn’t think I had perforated as Pain is only after eating and not all the time
I wonder if, because of the eds that where they have taken the 4 biopsies it is more ‘raw’ than in a non eds person
EDS by itself can cause stomach cramps, especially if it has already been 'set off' by something. However, I really don't think that this level of pain is usual for anybody. Is it still getting worse?
Fluids are fine now and foods better but not totally pain free yet. I think it may be where the took one of the biopsies and maybe it is abut raw and asfiod passing it causes pain. I baffled A&E, endoscopy nurse, and my GP........but nothing new there! The joys of EDS!
If I could only get rid of the chronic throat clearing I get( with reflux) as soon as I eat as well that would be perfect !
They do use a lot of air sometimes so that could be the problem if it has got trapped somewhere. Air in the abdomen where it shouldn't be can be agonising but can take a few days to gradually be absorbed.
