Yes, I have had many cystoscopy. The numb your body part and a tube is inserted into your bladder. Little uncomfortable but you are able to leave immediately after the test. You must drink lots of water before the test is carried out. Hope you get on OK

my husband has had a few but he has always been knocked out for it!

while he was under they found he had a stricture (narrowing of the tube)

this was causing infections so they were able to unblock & this seemed to

cure the problem for a while apparently they can see the kidneys also!

I am going in for one on Saturday, but also to have my stent removed. I have spoken to the Sister in the Endoscopy unit and she assured me it would all be over in 5 mins. I understand they numb the initial area and it may feel a little uncomfortable (I reckon a bit like pressure). Don't worry. I will be back on here on Saturday to let you know what that bit feels like xxx

Hi Angelofhope, yes, I have had this, it's not too bad, you can have a local anaesthetic and go home when it's finished. I had a general last time coz I had a biopsy too. Don't worry, you'll be fine, good luck xx

thanks everyone- meant to say that I have 21 tabs not 21 days!

I just hope they find something they can fix.

Hi ya I had a cystoscopy a few years ago because I had suffered from persistent urine infections (10 years) the infections took over my life! I found the most painful part after the procedure when they put the antibiotic injection in your bum!!! To add I was diagnosed with stage 2/3 kidney disease (Nephrotic Syndrome) I have been on Cefradine now for the past five years to prevent any recurrent infections.

thanks everyone x
