If it's any help I was concerned about my egfr last year. It went to 48 with creatinine 123. One week later after drinking more fluid. Everything came back to normal for me Egfr 74 creatinine 81. Doctor said cause was dehydration. I'm 54 , female . Urine test normal, ultrasound norm. I looked back over 30 yrs at my kidney function results and at 21)22 yrs my egfr was 82, creatinine 79. So basically nothing has changed dramatically over the years. . What I'm trying to say is if your drops fluctuate and not dropping to much. A simple thing such as not drinking enough fluids could alter the results, And this is your normal that fluctuate now and then.
Hi! My gfr was in the low 70s for about 5 years, even got down to 63 at one point. This all started in my early 40's. My gfr is now 91, back up where is should be for my age, which is now 47. Here is what I did. Went full on vegan, watched my protein intake, no more than 50 mgs for me, intermittent fasting, stay hydrated (I only have coffee a couple of times per week now for it was actually dehydrating me), get your minerals, (D and C and B) . . . I also got a tip on here of taking resveratrol everday, did that for like 3 months. I am off resveratrol now but will go back on in a couple months. You can pick up a lot of tips on here. Stopping Kidney Disease is a good read . . . personally anyone in their 30's approaching 40 should read it, for things change as you age . . . You just can't do the same things or eat like anything once you get to a certain age. I had the same, kidneys scanned nothing wrong. Sounds like you just need to cleanse and watch what your putting in your body. If you drink . . . it's also good to stop that or just limit it as much as you can.
Two years ago my egfr was 52. I never go to the doctor but this was a hospital who informed me. I grew up poor and we never went to the doctor. I was in the emergency room because I was having some breathing trouble and suddenly the doctor was like "your kidney is lower than we like to see for a 52 year old man". I was so upset but they put an IV tube in me and egfr went up to 62. So dehydration does make some difference. Now at the time I knew nothing about these numbers and they told me it went back up to normal. No one said 62 was just above stage 3. Anyway I started to go to doctors at that point. That chemical they test was at 1.54 for me at the next doctor which put me at egfr of 50. A few more egfr tests and I was told I have stage 3 ckd., The next doctor I got is my primary now, she is great and sent me to a kidney specialist. The specialist made me drink two bottles of water and took egfr and said (sorry this is so long but here is the part I hope helps you) "Now your egfr is showing 65. Small differences can be big numbers on these tests so do not get to worried. Anything from the way the lab does the test to how much water you drank can change it. In the last two years you have not had a decline so since we have no number to say what is normal for you, this could be your norm. Since you have no real change we need to keep an eye on it. Otherwise you can live a long life. I have many patients in stage 3 who go their entire lives and never progress to stage 4. I make money off them lol, but they are fine. All we need to do now is keep an eye on it and you should try to eat better and take your blood pressure at home to make sure it is where it should be." So I am still very upset, and google says otherwise about life expectancy, but this guy is saying you can life a long normal life if it does not go down at a fast rate. I called the national kidney foundation number and got this amazing guy who told me he just spoke to a man who found out he had stage 3 when he was my age and he is 80 now and never went to stage 4. I will not lie, I am still worried and emotional. That is why I logged on here today. God bless you and I will say a prayer that you are healthy.
