Yes. I have the same issue and have been taking 2 sodium pills 2 times/day for 3 years. Sodium level still below normal range.
Low sodium is on of the most easy things that can be treated. As someone posted they take sodium pills. But you too may be the cause. Have you tried to avoid food with sodium. Many with ckd adopt diets that are low in protein, sodium, potassium, etc. But they do so excessively. Our bodies, with or without CKD, require these "nutrients". Yes we should not exceed the recommended daily requirements (for example an adult male should consume about 58g of protein daily). For sodium it is recommended to intake around 2300 mg daily. Kidney disfunction can definitely cause low sodium levels. So can simply drinking too much fluid per day. for CKD it is recommended to drink lots of fluid. But you may be overdoing it and thus getting low sodium levels. Apparently your GP was not too concerned as he/she did nothing about it. Perhaps you were just below normal level. See what you next test shows. If still low press him on this issue since you may just require sodium pills or diet change.
Yes! Way down from normal. I never made a connection of low to fibromyalgia. I do have chronic kidney disease (CKD).
Thank you!
