Low sodium levels?

One of my latest test results showing sodium level down to 129 -last test was 130. Both results too low according to standards. Not sure if Trileptal prescription is playing a part- is known to cause low sodium. Meet with nephrologist on results tomorrow but seeing this score drop is frightening.

Hi there,

You may find this information about Trileptal useful, check out sections 4.4, and 5.2 in relation to relation to hyponatraemia (low sodium) and patients with renal impairment. From what I can see, the medication doesn't necessarily need to be stopped but doses adjusted and effects closely monitored.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes,
