Have you ever taken one? Did it come back normal? What were the results and did you have any other symptoms of CKD?

24 hours creatinine clearance
It is a very common practice for nephrologists to order the 24 Hour Urine Test. If you are already showing signs of kidney disease, the test can give the doctor more info. Shows how much protein you are spilling in 24 hours and other chemicals and minerals that you are spilling. Even the amount of urine offers more info to the nephrologist than a simple urine sample. It is simple to do - just collet all of your urine for 24 hours. The difficult part is keeping the collection bottle on ice or in the refrigerator.
While I was in CKD, it was common for the doctor to order this test once every 6 moths or so. Even now, 19+ years post transplant, my nephrologist has ordered this test just last year. This one did come back normal.
Thanks Anne for your response. My serum creatinine was elevated to 1.4,1.54,1.7,1.4, and my last test with creatinine clearance was 1.4. I am a male with a good lean muscle mass and used a very high protein diet previously. My 1.41 serum creatinine was co-existent with a 136.6 creatinine clearance and 3400 ml of volume. 2774mg/24 hour of creatinine and 81.6 mg/dl of creatinine in 24 hours.
So 136.6 was my clearance which is normal. But still it's worrisome to have elevated levels.
