Hey my urine Looks the exact same and I’m suspicious I have kidney disease have you been diagnosed or gave a reason for your urine like that?
My urine also looks like this. Did you guys find out what was wrong?
Bubbles like that can stem from protein in your urine. Your kidneys oughtn't to be passing protein so you need to get yourself checked out by your doctor. They'll take a urine sample and probably blood and will act from there.
It is most likely due to your diabetes. High blood sugar causes more albumin to pass through the kidney, thus creating bubbles. Common. This is about the 100th post about bubbles in urine. Bubble in urine CAN be a sign of protein in urine, but most of the time is NOT!!!!! My urine has looked EXACTLY like that for years now. My urine is tested FREQUENTLY and there is NO protein. As I have said on here multiple times, my father had similar urine his ENTIRE life. Passed away in his sleep in his early 90's. All that said it is a simple urine test you can get done and it will tell you if you have excessive protein in your urine. In fact you can buy your own urine test strips and test it yourself at home.I have discussed this very issue with both my kidney doctor and my urologist. The BOTH tell me they wish people would stop assuming it is kidney disease just because of bubbles in urine. Some people simply develop and have this "condition". That they have teen age patients who have this too. It is more prevalent in males than in females.
Other causes for bubbles in urine: diabetes, waiting until your bladder is excessive full before urinating, dehydration, pregnancy, even high blood pressure, urinary tract infection, and more.
Another basic reason that it happens, which is why it happens more in males, is the force of your urination. As guys stand, the urine travels a greater distance from body to the toilet water. This force causes bubbles.
Another "trick" is to urinate into a bowl or dish or pot which has NO water in it. Is their foam?? You see if it is caused by protein, protein reacts to the air and makes the foam.
If no foam, it is highly likely that it is NOT caused by protein in the urine.
Another thing that can cause foam is the chemicals within the water itself, or even the chemicals that are in the toilet from cleaning products you use.
So you can see the possibilities are endless. BUT DO NOT ASSUME THAT THE SIMPLE SIGHT OF BUBBLES IS DUE TO PROTEIN OR CKD.
Test your urine and see if evidence of excessive protein (keep in mind all urine has a little bit of protein in it). See your doctor to be sure!
I have bubbles most of the time and became obsessed about it until one doctor assured me that it can just be down to what you've eaten and now I understand this and have seen so many people get obsessed and worried about it I pay little attention and my efgr ranges from 85 to above 90 when tested.
You are so right about people becoming obsessed. So many things cause such "bubbles". So many have probably had this "condition" for most of their life and never paid attention. Then they read an article or post that says bubbles can be a sign of CKD. Then they look at their urine and panic seeing some bubbles, when they probably have been there for years. I remember when I visited my kidney doctor for the first or second time. She gave me the usual speach of avoid excessive protein, don't take nsaids, watch for bubbles in your urine. I told her I have LOTS of bubbles (almost exactly like the photo the originator of this thread posted). She said well your urine tests, blood tests, renal panel are great. Kind of her way of saying "beats the heck out of me". It was first my urologist when I asked him who told me he was going to scream if one more person panics about bubbles when it is MOST of the time just a normal, natural condition is MANY people, especially males. As he said don't sit and worry and panic when all you have to do is take a simple urine test. He also mentioned something interesting. That the "bubbles" in urine if caused by CKD are really more like a foam on top of a beer. That lingers for a while on top of the urine. That "natural" bubbles or those caused by other conditions such as diabetes are more like soap suds, the pop and go away more quickly (3 to 4 minute).
My gfr is 18, but I don't have bubbles.
