I'm new here, and I've not been diagnosed with CKD, but I went for a pre-employment drug screening today and the woman said I should certainly get it looked at. I know I have a few cysts on my kidneys and have had kidney issues in the past, but I'm not sure how this would relate to anything. The white things get pretty big too. I've read a lot about UTI's but I'm not experiencing any of the other symptoms. Any guesses?

Hello and welcome nlkirk to this informative and caring community. Thank you for posting on here.
Firstly, I would see your Health Professional and take the questions to them as they have all your medical history and will be able to answer them and perhaps give you a better picture of your health. You say that the 'white things' get big I wonder if these are your white blood cells that fight infection. I am sorry but It is difficult to give you more information without having a better overall view,. Please keep in touch with us and let us know how you get on.
Best wishes to you.

I get this very often. At least once per day. I mentioned it to my doctors. Who basically just have no comment. But I recently had extensive Urine testing (not just a dip stick test) and no abnormalities were found. My primary care doctor mentioned many times people who do NOT have anything in their mind about CKD, or UTI, or anything similar, simply do not even look at their urine. I mean what healthy person studies their own urine. :). And then when we are told of "urine related" problems we look closely and see what we think are abnormalities but likely have been there for a while. I too have large (very large) cyst on my kidney (I have only one) so perhaps it is cyst related. But my primary care said it can also be caused by medications which affect the urinary tract (such as Flomax). Recent (same day or night before sperm ejaculation). Or yes of course with CKD your kidney filtration is not going to be normal. Mine seems quite tied to hydration. I do not see this when I am properly or highly hydrated. It happens more often when I'm not hydrated enough. It is difficult to tell in your photography but the urine appears on the darker yellow side which would indicated not highly hydrated. Next appointment mention it, see what your doctor tells you. Keep us informed.
