CKD

Hi All,

I have found this forum today when looking for answers.

I am not diagnosed CKD. I am 50 yr old with hypothyroid and hypertension, both being treated.

My GP got bloods tested as my BP meds were being increased (on Candesartan 8mg)

I wonder if someone can advise if there is anything to be concerned about here or anything to watch.

In brackets I have put which way results have moved over last 3 years.

Serum sodium 140 mmol/L 133-146 (no change)

Serum potassium 4.6 mmol/L 3.5-5.3 (up)

Serum creatinine 71 umol/L 53-97 (up)

GFR calculated MDRD 75 mL/min/1.73m2 (down)

I realise that all are in range but with GFR going down I wondered if there’s anything else I should be looking at.

I have an AML on my left kidney which seems to be stable but not been scanned for a couple of years.

If anyone has any suggestions that would be appreciated.

Thanks

Mel

Hi Melonj,

Welcome to our community! Looking at your blood test results they are within normal range at the moment. Your eGFR would be considered normal - mildly impaired renal function, eGFR can't be the only indicator of developing CKD, and other contributing factors need to be considered. Please click on the link to more information from the Edinburgh Renal Unit:

It seems that you have a good GP who is monitoring your kidney function well. I suggest that if you have any concerns that you have a chat with him/her. Bear in mind this is a peer support group and though the folks here are very knowledgable in managing their conditions, we are no substitute for professional medical advice.

Keep in touch!

Ok folks, please pop by and welcome this new member.

Best wishes,
