Had a killer bout if gout. Been getting it for years, long before lower GFR readings. I took about 5 colgout tabs over a few nights. My Dr was not happy expressing major concerns that is may impact already impaired kidney function, Anyone had any experience with Colgout?

Colgout and eGFR
Hi Kiddingnee and thank you for your post. Colgout is used for the relief of pain in acute attacks of gout. It does not provide relief from any other types of pain. Calgout has a preventative effect that helps to reduce the incidence of acute attacks. It will not reduce the amount of uric acid in the body. In patients with Chronic Kidney Disease, non steroid anti inflammatory medicines can cause acute worsening of eGFR and are contraindicated in all stages of Chronic Kidney Disease. Colgout is excreted renally and can accumulate to toxic levels to renal impairment. Please discuss alternative treatments with your GP/consultant and hope you will soon be feeling better. Are any other members of the forum able to help Kiddingnee, please? Also, please have a look at the following website for more information--

Yes, might be time to take. More bloody meds. Grrrrr.
I too have chronic gout. My rheumatologist started me on Uloric 40 mg. several years ago . This prevents the gout attacks. I have 3rd stage kidney disease.
