nobody listens
It's because people don't realize that dyslexia affects every part of your life, not only reading and writing. I think you are very brave to even try to tell people about your experiences, I commend you. The more we continue to educate people about dyslexia the better. As for negative comments, I believe that people need time to understand and learn about dyslexia especially in the workplace.
Just explain it. How will anyone learn if we don’t tell them. I have Irlens too. I’m often asked if ‘I’m hungover’
I just explain, how they help, what they mean and turn it into something very positive. As a result I’ve had countless people thank me, as they know someone who’s been tested or got glasses as a result.
Those that don’t care/ understand aren’t worth worrying about. Smile sweetly and talk to someone who’s nice and does care 😁
I can't tell you how many times, I would fall for a woman to only have her not be up front with her feelings if she had them back for me. I mean people really do not understand that being Learning disabled/dyslexic effects every single aspect of our lives. I had some one in one of my college classes harrassed me on a daily basis he was trying to convert me to his religion. He got really unlucky and got banned in every college in the state of Oregon, He got on the do not admit list. I warned him to leave me alone.
Yes, no one listens.
Why?
When they see you they do not see the problem, but during the conversation they can see there is a problem, only a few can relate to the problem and ask questions and offer help.
At times I am slow, very seldom people understand it.
I make the same spelling mistake all the time. examples, only (onley), below (bellow), Earley ( the place I live), early , load and lord, field, in umbers, 48 and 84. I worked in Telecommunications, the 48 and 84 frequencies used to confuse me. There are many more. In driving I can get closer to the destination then get lost in the last mile!!!!
