Hi i am assuming you are a type 2. Best reading information i was given was Reverse Your Diabetes by Dr David Cavan. It is simple and tells it like it is. Very helpful as well. There is also lots of info on diabetes.co.uk and several links which can help. I have changed my diet around and significantly reduced my blood sugar levels and not on medication anymore in less than 6 months.

Good luck, this is a brilliant site and you will have a lot of support here.

Thanks - yes it is type 2. I'm very pleased to hear about the success of your diet. I may experience a few conflicts re diet as I'm lactose intolerant and wholemeal bread aggravates other conditions!

I think I'll concoct a picture of "best diet" to put on my kitchen wall :)

I dont knowif you are on medication or not, but like you i am really "upset" by wholemeal bread. In fact I no longer eat it at all now. I tend to go with scrambled eggs and 2 rashers grilled lean bacon for breakfast, Salad for lunch, and either chicken or minute steak with salad for tea. I treat myself once a week to Fish and chips, (with diabetes specialist nurses approval) and that is about it. Dont go for any low fat yoghurts etc as they load them with sugar, better off having a normal one. Watch your eyes (sorry) and legs and feet. Keep as well as you can. Good luck!

Thanks. Everything about food seems complicated! All bought bread is a problem for me, even organic. But if I make my own, it's fine, in moderation.

I LOVE my breadmaker :)

Low carb ! Its carbs & sugar that do the damage. Go for walks during the day & be as active as possible. I have two of my very good friends off all meds for there T2. One was on insulin but not any more. It is possible & good luck.
