I have diabetes for last 2 years and taking Glycomet 500 mg once in the morning and my sugar level ranges between 160 to 180. Should I increase my medicine dose?

When was your last appointment with your Endocrinologist? What did he/she say?

You need to make an appointment with your doctor and see if he can increase your meds, or give you some different meds. I got tired of some of my meds and high blood sugar and went on insulin. I keep my numbers in control now. You can't just do that without a doctor's guidance though. But you can't have your blood sugar that high all of the time. You will suffer from long term complications. My blood sugar will be 130 in the mornings without 2000 mgs of Metformin per day. My post meal blood sugar was regularly close to or over 200 after meals before I started using insulin. There are other oral meds you can take to help you control your blood sugar. What kind of diet are you currently on? Going on a low carb high fat diet can really lower your BG numbers. But if you're like me and you can't maintain a strict diet plan, there are other meds your doctor can give you to help you get better BG control. Please let us know how you get on after you see your specialist.
