I don't know if this is the right place to ask but I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes a few days ago. I was in the hospital. I'm at home now. I can't lay down. The pain goes all down my right side from shoulder to stomach. The pains are very sharp and I don't know what's causing them and I don't know how to sleep.

How long have you had the pain? Had it started while you were in the hospital? If so, had the Nurses and Doctors talked to you about it? What did they say? Have you made an appointment with an Endocrinologist? Or a GP?

Hi yasminw232, I'm sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. I know it's a huge shock and life changing event, but you will be OK. There is a lot of support out there and compared to a few years ago even the diagnostic tech and insulins are far superior, so managing it is a lot easier than ever, but still a full time job. Anyway, welcome to the club, us Type 1's are a small and unique bunch in the overall diabetes world.
I'm not sure what could be causing the pain, so the best thing to do is go straight back to your doctor. It could be related to the diabetes. I had lots of pains before and around my diagnosis because of DKA and really high blood-glucose levels, but not that bad, so it could be something else. Best to go and get checked.
Let us know how you get on.
If inflammation is cut off pain goes .When immunity system is attacked or gets weakened inflammation takes place .
All great comments get to your endo. first or family doctor. One thing I have found on my hospital stays ( I blessed w. both Type 1 and seizures) is the beds are so uncomfortable. I thought my body was going to break.
Welcome you will find a warm and supportive group here, keep coming back.
