How many of you who started the year with good intentions and vowed to yourself that you would begin the year with Dry January are still with it and how many have fallen off the wagon?
I'm still doing it but for no obvious reason I am really struggling today. No stress, no arguments and no temptations, but I really feel like giving up .
Would be great to hear how you are all doing.

Don't fall off the wagon. I am still on the wagon we are over half way. Go back to your early January post, remember them 24 litres of Vodka. January is a bit of a gloomy month don't make it even gloomily. Have a bath or ice cream, coco. Listen and read to more quit lit. This January you are going to crack it. If you have started drinking again just stop again. All is not lost.
Thanks for your support, I have been dieting as well because of my diabetes and hypertension, so I have decided to have a few treats this evening just until I get over this little hurdle.
I'm glad to hear that you are still sticking with it.
I’m still AF had a bit of a tester Saturday night. I love cooking tea and listening to my favourite radio show but it’s usually accompanied by copious amounts of wine. I swapped for AF cider which is really nice and waking up Sunday morning was even more refreshing.
Like Jampacked said half way there. Sober October for me it seemed to become easier after two weeks. Distraction is they key and focusing on the positives. I can’t remember who said this in the group but it’s really helped me. Play the scenario in your head what life looks like if you gave in? How it escalates the negative feelings, nothing ever comes good after a dink.
I’m still on the wagon. Nearly 3 weeks for me as well as you and everyone else in the comment section.
You're doing great, 3 weeks is superb. I have mates that couldn’t go a few days without a can of ale! The fact you’ve gone this long shows that you don’t need it and you can have a clean slate.
Write down all the benefits you’ve had since not having a drop and then write down the benefits of having alcohol. I can guarantee you they’ll be nil.
I'm still doing it, but am struggling today too. Had a mammogram yesterday and they are saying I need to come back and do one side again and, though it's probably nothing, it's stressing me out. I also have an onslaught of medical maintenance appointments in the next month and really wanted this one in the rearview mirror. Ugh.
Please stick with it, having a drink might seem like a good idea to relieve the stress but as I'm sure you know it will only be brief and then you will probably feel even worse afterwards.
Hope all goes well with your medical appointments.
A minor bump on the road to sobriety , glad that you got over it. I also had minor setback, Saturday evening. We were invited to my sisters house which is always a very boozy affair and I have to admit I didn't even try to abstain. I did however drink a lot less than I would normally have done by insisting that my drinks were measured and not the usual free hand pours that would floor an elephant. It worked because I felt perfectly OK next morning. I did feel a bit annoyed with myself for spoiling my attempt at dry January.
I also have health issues because of my excessive alcohol consumption, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes.
I am wishing that this spell of horrendous weather that we are having would pass so that I can get back out walking as that seems to help me a lot.
