Do alcoholics get “episodes”

My dad is an alcoholic. He’s lost a ton of weight and clearly has health issues he refuses to get checked out. Sometimes he goes into these episodes of a blank stare and slouching as though he might be having a stroke. Is this a symptom of alcoholism?

Yes, or rather a sign his Liver could be failing. He needs a Dr and some initial blood tests, waste no time, every day counts. Get him checked out because this could get very serious and very quickly.

Wish he would get checked out. He refuses. It’s a nasty disease.

It’s almost impossible to to push an alcoholic to get any sort of help. What might help you cope is to try AL-Anon. It’s a support group for YOU.
