This Is Me

Last Sat, I had a minor stroke whilst @ work, ended up in A&E with my husband for 5 hrs who said it was most likely to be 1 & it was confirmed as 1 by a doctor in the Stroke Clinic today

It has left me unable to ask customers for carrier bags the way I used to be able to, so have to change & will stammer more as think I had 1 back in Apr, got some loss of feeling in my right hand & grip to

I'm on Aspirin right now, but gonna be put on blood thinners eventually

Did they find out why you had the stroke?

in reply toWittycjt

A tiny blood clot made its way upto my brain & did it's thing to make me have the minor stroke. Also found out whilst up there that my right leg is slightly weaker as well plus get tired easily

Ok but why are you clotting? What did they say was the reason for the clot? Is it a blood disease, clotting disorder, atrial fib? Why?

I have various heart problems including a fast heart rate, but dunno why it formed

Had to have an ultrasound of the neck & an ECG as he was concerned about my heart rate being faster than normal for me

I had a stroke back in September and didn't know I had had one. Went to A and E and had a brain scan which confirmed I had suffered a stroke. Only kept in the stroke unit for one night and saw the stroke consultant in the stroke clinic late November. Thought high blood pressure had caused the stroke but had an echocardiogram but indicated it may have been due to a 'hole in my heart'. This is something which closes shortly after birth so I have had it for 71 years. Was discharged from the stroke clinic and told that it was not intended to do any operation but may change my meds if the 24 hour ECG monitor confirms the problem. Slept a lot in the three weeks after my stroke and still haven't got my 'get up and go back'. Consultant said it should be back within 3 to 4 months. She said I must be kinder to myself and not beat myself up because I am not completing tasks as quickly as I used to do. I only took aspirin for 21 days and am on Ramipril , Clopidogrel and Atorvastatin.

I'm gonna be on Clopidogrel @ 75mg a day. I had something similar back in Apr, but he couldn't say 100% if that was 1 as well

I feel more tired than normal & can't get through a 4 hr shift without a break, without 1 can't do the whole shift!

My speech has changed from both, so have found ways around it to avoid problems, but I do stutter & stammer when get tired
