is there any side effect of Metformin

i am taking metformin SR 1000 twice a day from last 5 yrs

and my Hba1c is 7.2

is there any contradiction or precautions

Metformin 5oo is what doctors generally prescribe initially but in the long run that alone will not be enough. Glynase and then a combination with Metformin. Ultimately you will reach insulin along with diet control and exercise to keep matters under control. A life style disease!

U probably is not exercising. Walk at least for one hour. Have check on the diet. Follow strict diet. See if it improves

Metforminis known to impair B12 absorption which leads to complications due to B12 deficiency after prolonged use. KIndly consult your doctor for B12 supplement.

I was on metformin for pcos doc put me on and birth control and iron tablets for high cholesterol ive taken them as the doc described me to but was only on for a month and periods are normal for 3 month's on my last period it was light and went away when Ihad sspotting redthe first time I checked in toilet then next day it came light and lasted five days is that normal and I had vagina pain and vomiting and bad smell of foods the night before i had my periods could I be pregnant I had sore legs and back pain but when I checked with the gp for a pregnancy test it was negative before I got my periods can someone tell me if they are experiencing the same thing thanks. ..
