Is there any way to eat rice
There is no way.You can only limit the quantity.Brown rice, polished rice or steamed rice are better choices,as long as you restrict the quantity.
You can eat rice. Unpolished rice is to be preferred . Rice goes well with balanced diet.
I follow a Grainless diet
But if you just cannot give it up then
Use more water to cook the rice
Drain off the excess water. This will reduce the starch at least
Prepare biryani with lots of veggies
Keep it in fridge overnight
Next day take it out
Let it come to room temp.. don't heat this
Add melted ghee over it
Have small qty
This will ensure lower statch and also act as resistant starch
You can take one cup of brown rice at noon.

Ok .. is anybody having it already for lunch?
I think you should try the method of cooking rice suggested by Shashikantiyengar but in small quantity and check BSL post meal. I never try with brown rice but I did try with rolled oats (same way suggested above here in order to get resistance starch); but it spiked my BSL high.
Making biryani, it would be nicer with basmati rice than brown rice. You can buy a low GI basmati if it's available there.
Cauliflower turned into rice is good and also lower in carbs.. Try it with butter or cheese mixed in.
Means there is no way i can enjoy chicken biryani.
I am just 27 and so much food restrictions put me into frustration.
1. You better cook daliya, or suji, or oatmeal. Add suitable dal, veggies etc. Add some fresh curd as permissible.
2. Offer all your cravings to small children. Watch them enjoy it. That's best option.
Great idea, thanks Anup for sharing. Is it necessary to chill the cooked rice before hand? (As per shashi..'s..idea)
There are millet alternative for rice which tastes just like rice.
Some options of millets are arka, samai, oodalu, navane in Kannada.
You can google for millets and start eating it as it reduces blood sugar and also adds fibre to your diet.
AshIndia , Are millets safe for Diabetics. Dr.Khaders lecture is in kannada and I dont understand.
Please guide for Millets usage.
Please find different millets found in India. Foxtail millet, Finger millet (ragi), Pearl millet (bajra), Barnyard millet, jowar, kodo millet, little millet, prison millet.
Use at least 3 or 4 types of the above millets in your diet and also include long wheat chapati in your diet.
Please find below dr khader speech with English subtitles.
Rice or any other starch if kept in the fridge for 6to 8 hours and reheated and cooled again then there is 50% conversion to resistant starch thus making absorption less and less rise in blood glucose. This has to be tried and tested for each foods separately . Everyone may not get the same results so this has to be done by trial and error. Not recommended for LCHF diets.
Thanks for the reply Anup.
Don't eat rice. Diabetes means impaired carbohydrate metabolism. So minimise carbs in your diet and your body will thank you for this! Results are dramatic believe me! Instead try Cauliflower rice. I've made it n it tastes great. Similarly zucchini noodles also taste great and you feel satiated too. You'll find the recipes on the net.. Good luck!
I am taking ushna chawal or paraboiled rice(Parboiled rice (also called converted rice) is rice that has been partially boiled in the husk)since 2 years and quantity is around 100 gm only in lunch with dal or sambhar. The PP always remains between 145 to 165.In chhattisgarh HMT ushna rice(35/per kg) is available and taste like normal rice. The rice is also used for making Idli.In tamil it is known as Puzhungal arisi/Ponni boiled rice.It is my experience and wanted to share. You can try this rice.
