Is there any side effect of Metformin Hydro... - Diabetes India
Is there any side effect of Metformin Hydrochloride SR-Glyciphage 1Gm taken daily with breakfast
What is you diet? Everything depends on what you eat.
You are doing fine.Just make some adjustment with your diet plan. But that also depends since how long you are on medication.
If diet consists of 120-150 mg carbs max per day and having avg FBG of 110 and A1C of 6.2. Do you sugest Meformin SR. And if yes can it be taken for long without any major side effects. It seems due to dawn phenomenon A1C is not going down in spite of carb controlled diet.
Restricting carbs to 100-120gm and metformin SR 500 after dinner may help in reducing DP.
should i discontinue metformin 1 gm which i take after breakfast and start taking it after dinner
I have already mentioned on this board that after being unsuccessful for about a year in reducing my FBG (120--150) due to DP, I consulted with a diabetologist who advised me to take Metformin 500 SR twice a day. After breakfast and after dinner. Its been little over a month since I started taking Met twice a day. My FBG levels now average 90 to 105, a drop of 35/40.
I believe that taking Met is the sole factor responsible for the drastic drop in my FBG levels. I have had absolutely no side effects thus far. From what I've read too, Met SR is one of the safest drugs (for type 2 diabetes) going. Read Jenny Ruhl amongst several others. Pages 94--100 paperback, 2012 edition of Blood Sugar 101.
I must reiterate that what worked for me, may or may not work for others. Further, I am in close contact with my diabetlogist, who will advice me on dosage, how long to continue, etc, etc, etc.
All the best, Ranj. I am planning to spend more time on other foreign boards where the diet is more akin to mine. I may therefore not post here again.
All the very best to everyone here. Cheers !!
Thank u all for your guidance. If I do not take care of FBG (avg 110) which is may be due to DP and try to achieve A1C of 5.5 without MF. Is there any side effect of high FBG or will it increase day by day without medication.
medfree because of work pressure on a project I was eating in a 7-8 hours window in 2009 and my HbA1C shot to 11.3%. Came down to 70 - 120 within 3 weeks and I gave up monitoring. It is for this reason when I got HbA1c 11.6% this January, I increased food snack intake to 8-12 times per 24 hours with 2 bites between dinner and breakfast. [I know this does not establish 'cause and effect' but may still be holding some relationship dynamics]
Constipation, Changes in Bowel Habbits may be there
U r really very lucky, having good control, keep it up.
