Diabetic patients take on diet control resulting in weight loss. The misconcept on taking normal food with rice meal is one of the main reason for loss of weight. Dr.M.V.Prasad, Friends of Diabetes, Kenichira, Wayanad; tel; 04936210240/346336, strongly recommends to follow usual diet, taken along with other members of the family, who are not diabetic. Moreover he suggests a novel approach to treat diabetes with sweets! For more details please visit You tube for Dr.M.V.Prasad in Sreeraman's Veritta Kazhchakal. Thos who wish to meet him can take an appointment on Wdnesdays, so as to attend his class and meet him for his advice.

According to my doctor, Mr.Renganathan HBA1C should be brought down within 6.1.Then we have to take only Papaya,Apple and Pomgrenate fruits.Minimise rice and eat Chappathis at night. Go for walk in the evening for atleast half an hour. We will definitely gain weight.
A diabetic might loose weight if the sugar levels are very and the body is unable to get any energy from the food we eat.In such cases body will try to survive on it's reserves of fat and muscle.Urine and blood analysis will easily reveal such a condition. This can be reversed by controlling the sugar levels. That means body is able to utilize the available sugar for it's energy needs. Please talk to your doctor.May be there are other issues.
weight loss is not a problem. Only this should not continue
Thanks all for your responses
I too experienced the same problem initially when Diabetes was diagnosed but, after controlling sugar thru medication and walks, my normal weight came back in the span of say one year. Please continue your normal diet (-) Sweets. Occasional fried stuff is OK. I do not see any problems with eating rice but, overall calories should be monitored. Occasional Sweets are OK in moderate qty. Try to burn out the extra calories on such occasions. Please strictly go by your "Drs. advise (preferable a Hormone Specialist i.e. Endocrinologist. If at all he recommends Insulin, do not delay it. It protects your eyes and kidney.
