About the medicine dosage you have to verify with your doctor only.About pain in the heels,I hope you are using comfortable shoes with 100% cotton socks.use a foot care cream to keep the feet soft and pliable.I am sharing some general suggestions about diabetes management base on my long experience as a diabetic. Please consider them.

Diabetes is a metabolic disorder which is a result of the pancreatic gland in our body either produces little or no insulin or the body has developed resistance to insulin. In both cases, the body cells do not receive the glucose needed for production of energy because insulin is essential for glucose to enter the cells. This results in the blood sugar levels to increase beyond acceptable levels, though your body cells are starved for glucose. This condition is very bad for our well being and over long term may result in severe complications.

Controlling blood sugar levels is a tough job but it is not impossible if you realize that everything is in your own hands. This is so,because though you may get good advise from doctors and dieticians,it is ultimately Y O U that will have to take all the necessary steps to successfully control diabetes. I am giving certain general suggestions based on my personal experience which you may consider and adopt based on your personal choice.

Diet plays a very important role in managing diabetes. You should reduce intake of foods that are rich in carbohydrates like sweets, rice, wheat, other grains ,potato, beet and other root vegetables rich in starch. You should eat more of vegetables, sprouts, greens and salads that give you lot of fiber, vitamins and minerals. Each meal you take should be smaller but you may have 5 or 6 meals instead of 3 meals a day.

Exercise is very important to control diabetes. Daily brisk walking or jogging for at least 40 to 60 minutes is ideal. Such exercise will consume lots of energy and sugar levels come down accordingly.

Mental stress aggravates diabetes. Lead a stress free life by adopting relaxation techniques like music meditation, yoga and breathing exercises.

Consult a diabetologist and get prescribed for medication if necessary and comply with the doctor's advise scrupulously. If you have proper diet control and exercise regularly.you need not depend on medicines heavily.

Please remember that the most important person in managing your diabetes is Y O U.

Dear Sir, Have you adopted this recommendation yourself. Then you will not be diabetic Hardly one can practice. .

It is not a recommendation. It is just sharing of my personal experience. My last A1c was 6.4 and during my last annual, all my readings(about 40) came within normal.I take my medicines with 100% compliance.I am certainly diabetic but with good control.Lastly,if I can practice, anyone can.

I feel the dosage is little bit high. You have not said about the medicines being adminstered from the day one of DM if it is so it is high but if it is gradual try to reduce it after consulting your family doctor.Go for walk daily both in the morning and evening with that you sugar level will come down.Initially to bring down your sugar level eat only ragi no other stuff for 15 days then you will see the result. As far your knee pain as soon you get up from bed sit on sofa stretch your leg up and down about 10 times you will see the relief.

Thanks for responding.Medicines keep changing as per diebetologist,s advice. Here I have mentioned the medicines which I am taking at present. Normally I walk regularly for 3 km in the morning 5 days a week. But it is becoming difficult due to knee pain. What is ragi ?

As per the advice of medfree, who is aged-experienced and knowledgeble and others also say that you must go for Low carb and small quantity and protein and fat for strength and longer time to add another meal. In short practise to around 300 approx. and take medicine with our missing. Practise walking(5.% KM/hr and yoga.

Though 90FBS is optimum i have not achieved so far. But, you should first aim for 100 + or - 5 should be good- FBS. Once you achieve this .and practise LCHF but Fruits ,sweets, ice cream, cake and high carb -GI items shall be avoided. Once you bring your sugar in blood between 100 to 150 your EDF will vanish. You start going in for food stuff which controls blood sugar.I feel you may feel hungry because of heavy medicine and tend to eat more carb and hence your PPS in blood is high.

I do exercise discretion in diet and avoid potatoes, rice, sweets, sweet fruits. Limit myself in general to roti, dal, green vegetables, salad, fruits, chicken, porridge, corn flakes, muesli etc. but due to long working i restrict myself to 3 meals per day which I shall try to change. I read a lot about LCHF but I am not able to adapt myself to it.

Thanks for your reply. I am already avoiding high GI food, processed food, bread, butter. I take poultry but avoid eggs, meat, use soyabean/ sarson oil for cooking. Fruit intake is restricted to apple, guava, papaya, pomegranate only.

dear raghav1964, with LCHF you must try to achieve fasting level of 90 and pp level after 1 hr 150 to 160 and after 110 mts 120 to 130. It is definitely possible with concentrated effort and willingness to consume the LCHF. You have to concentrate on food intake and repeated testing.
