you are just 31 and diabetic..you should get your fasting c-peptide done,lifestyle modifications already started by you are good,but you need to do cardio/jogging/brisk walking....remember your calorie intake should be restricted according to your body wt. and 65% of your calories should come from carbohydrates,and i think you will need some drugs:whether that will be insulin or oral tablets,needs evaluation and labelling you DM1 or DM2..and you must meet yor ophthalmologist and get eye checkup done
