This is a 37 mins fantastic video on insulin resistance. A must watch. Not to be missed. By Benjamin Bikman who is an authority on insulin resistance. A leading scientist devoted exclusively on the above subject.

The plagues of prosperity
Indeed, an excellent speech. I hope the message gets conveyed to the practising medical Doctors.
Just one point i don't agree. That's about IR in the brain as a cause of alzheimer's. Tissues don't die suddenly. So if there is any entity like IR in brain, dysfunction of cerebral tissues should precede their death causing alzheimer's. And if there is dysfunction of the brain tissues we would be having cerebral symptoms like dizziness, headache, somnolence and especially impairment of intelligence and logical deficit. What i believe is brain tissues don't require insulin for utilisation of glucose. As such also insulin is a polypeptide which doesn't, shouldn't, can't be crossing the blood brain barrier. The cause of alzheimer's in my opinion is vascular. Because of uncontrolled diabetes there is arteritis and we can call alzheimer's cerebral attack though the word attack is not appropriate because cerebral cells death is gradual and not sudden. Like MI it should be called CI.There might be other views, opinions also quite different to mine.
I know the areas of vascular dementia and Alzheimer's are still not well understood and therefore there will be different viewpoints.
However, there is compelling evidence that consumption of excess carbohydrate whether simple or complex is the root cause of obesity and T2D in vast number of cases. Our health care systems are still giving dietary advice which make people more and dependent on oral drugs and insulin injection in case of T2D. You will be surprised to know that NHS UK does not even monitor insulin level in the blood for T2D. Pre-diabetes is officially not recognised as a serious condition. A person becomes of interest only if his blood glucose crosses 200mg/dl (11.1mmol/l).
Thank you so much for that information, Praveen55 . I never knew that to be the case. I thought the NHS was concerned with prediabetes, as well as for those with both type 1 and 2.
I'm just putting my views.May be alzheimer's is a mild type of vascular disturbances. Also the most important genetic cause for alzheimer's is genetic. What's your opinion about ir in brain. Why haven't we become dumb and less intelligent? I'd love to know your and others views.
Alzheimer’s and other forms of Dementia can be inherited in the family if there’s a family gene for the disease— like Diabetes.
Are the genes for D and alzheimer's same or connected? Is there a reproducability? What's the ratio of D and nonD alzheimer's patients? I don't find that all D have alzheimer's. How many D develop alzheimer's? And how many nonD? I see severely D with no alzheimer's. I'm not saying D are not more prone to alzheimer's. But ir in the brain as a cause of alzheimer's needs to be reviewed.
I will send you the link in a few minutes.
May be alzheimer's results from repeated microemboli. Two examples. My father is physically fit. No diabetes. No hypertension. He has developed moderate alzheimer's because of cva - cvs and repeated infections - uti and septicemia. On the other hand our ex pm atalbihari vajpayee.Very fond of eating fish.Lots of O3. He has severe degree of alzheimer's.
What's twisting of protein? Lemme understand.
