what is level 1 and level 2 diabetes
Dear Friend,
Perhaps you meant to ask Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes.
Type 1 or Insulin Dependent where the patient can survive only with regular injection of insulin as his/her pancreas has lost the ability to secrete insulin. This normally happens in children and is also known as juvenile diabetes. Depending on your age, you can either rule yourself in or out on this. The incidence of Type 1 in India is not high.
Type 2 or Adult onset diabetes is more common in India. While this form of diabetes was common in those over 40 years of age, the current scenario is that people get this even in their early twenties because of the lifestyle. Early detection of this could mean that control can be through proper diet and exercise without any medication. Oral tablets is the next stage followed by insulin.
Wish you good health
In type 1 diabetes (which used to be called insulin-dependent diabetes or juvenile diabetes), the pancreas can't make insulin. The body can still get glucose from food but the glucose can't get into the cells where it's needed. Glucose stays in the blood, which makes the blood sugar level very high and causes health problems.
Type 2 diabetes is different from type 1 diabetes. In type 2 diabetes, the pancreas still makes insulin, but the insulin doesn't work in the body like it should and blood sugar levels get too high.
