Type 1 is caused by genetic factors.The pancreatic cells(which produce insulin) are completely destroyed and the patient will have to depend on insulin for life.This type onsets early in life,before forty and even in young adults.Type 2 on the other hand manifests generally at later stages of life due to several factors like sedentary lifestyle,overeating etc.One maybe genetically disposed for this condition.The body may be producing insufficient insulin or the body is unable to utilize the available insulin. In any case,the only recourse is professional help.
