Are there side effects with the continuous use of medicines? Is not better to control diabetes with food habits & systamatic workouts?

Food habits should be strictly controlled once diebetes is detected, and if not done at the early stages then the human body has to rely on external source of insulin by way of medication/direct insulin injection. Physical workouts should be of the nature where the deciding factor being health condition / age. It may be Yoga (best) / Free hand exercise / Brisk walking - inshort - Must burn the Calories. Diabetes is not a Disease by itself but acts as a catalyst for other severe diseases.
