This is a scary situation. I had covid and rushed to a hospital, though there were no serious symptoms. Lucky I came out without any problems

Are you feeling okay? I know that COVID and possible amputations/other complications can be scary for a lot of people.

[“Throughout the world, it is estimated that every 30 seconds a leg is amputated. And 85% of these amputations were the result of a diabetic foot ulcer.” After years of decline, the rate of amputations increased by 50% between 2009 and 2015 to 4.6 for every 1000 adults, the authors found.](1)

"Diabetes is linked to two other conditions that raise the chances of foot amputation: peripheral artery disease (PAD) and diabetic neuropathy. PAD can narrow the arteries that carry blood to your legs and feet and make you more likely to get ulcers (open sores) and infections."(2)

"People living with diabetes have an increased risk of lower limb amputation. Wounds or ulcers that do not heal are the most common cause of amputation among people with this condition. Other factors, such as high blood sugar levels and smoking, can increase the risk of foot-related complications, including amputation."(3)

Thank you for posting this article. It's very scary and brings home the need to keep on top of chronic illnesses before they become life threatening or life limiting.

Hi Mohannandigana1952 ,

Yes, some articles can be scary-- even when the article(s) are very informative now and then, unfortunately. When I first started reading through the article, it was scary to see how many people were being told that they may need/the doctors mentioned it to their patients at the appointments that it was possible that they were needing to have an amputation done. This is why blood sugar control is very important.

If we look at breakfast, lunch and dinner on a daily basis in India, Asia ans South East Asia, every small business has to be shut down because most of the products are rice base. This is a fast food business, a person going to work or coming from work stop to take quick meal.

In UK, this quick fast food is available in Sri Lankan take away not in a Indian restaurant !

We all enjoy these Sri Lankan take away food, available in UK, Europe, Canada, USA and many other places.

Sri Lankan food is very different to Indian restaurant food.? Sri Lankan fast food is available via on line order.

As you say no one look at the carb.

Not what you're looking for?
