As per the recent study, Most commonly prescribed PPI's for Acid reflux / GERD/ Acidity such as Omeprazole, Pantoprazole , Lansoprazole......are found to be helpful in controlling Blood Sugar, though it does not prevent from the risk of diabetes..
This is only a initial study and so Please don't pop up these easily available over the counter drugs unless prescribed by your doctor. These PPI's may be safe for short term , but in the long term it is not good for your overall helth. Since it reduces stomach HCL , you may end up in to malabsorption of essential nutrients such as Iron, Zinc and others. Also it is known to disturb our gut bacteria.
Also, the renowned gastroenterologist Nageswar Reddy of Hyderabad said in one interview that diabetic type 2 (he was also talking about some type 3) is due to some problem in duodinum, rather than pancreas. The tablets in your post, i think, play well in curing the problems with duodinum.
I too believe that For some people at least , the diabetes could be a manifestation of Digestive disorder ...
Though for many people , there could be other reasons such as Genetics and for many others it is the life style and a improper diet....
When i say improper diet, it is again the suitability of a particular type of diet for some people ..again their capability to digest without indigestion and other GI symptoms.....Gas, acidity , reflex , GERD, ...etc.
This made me to make a post on role of pancreas in digestion.....apart from producing insulin which is only 10% of its function....please go through that comprehensive post of mine on GI issues which we should watch for....
