A diabetic person has low immunity to all kinds of diseases. He should stop smoking permanently for better health. Two of the biggest lung infections faced by diabetic patients are pneumonia and tuberculosis, which can both cause huge problems to your health. Vaccination prevents against certain bacterial and viral pneumonias both in children and adults.
Fasting blood sugar should be less than 100 mg/dL and postprandial blood sugar (2 hours after taking food) should be less than 140 mg/dL.

An ideal diet is low in carb, controlled and moderated fat and protein; vegetables and fruits a plenty; and red meat, dairy
and bakery the least. Most bakery items contain High Fructose Corn Syrup. (Lays, Curkure, Oreo, Coco cola and other aerated
drinks). High Fructose Corn Syrup is a concentrated form of sugar, fructose derived from corn. It increases body fat, cholesterol and triglycerides and it also makes you hungry.

It is not a question of hurting. It is about his health and well being.Take help from other other members the family particularly children. You will be justified in taking even some high handed measures.
Healthy food is not hurting him. It's a lifestyle change your family including you should adopt. Relax- it's all good, his and your family's improved health will give you all the encouragement to continue. The
After smoking for 25 years, I decided to give up in 1981, inspired by Bernard Shaw's description of who a smoker is "Fool at one end and fire at the other", when my pack was half full" I used to smoke about 30 cigarettes a day. I had not even confided to my wife of this decision till she suddenly noticed that I had not lighted a cigarette for for 3 or 4 hours and asked me. Friends both in India and abroad tried advising me that one cigarette would not hurt, without meaning to hurt me. I had made a commitment to myself that I would not cheat myself by smoking again on the sly. And stuck to that decision.
The decision to give up smoking - not reduce smoking - was self made and was not the result of my wife or anyone pressurising me to do so I am happier for having done so. I hope and pray that your husband will feel similarly be inspired by Bernard Shaw's description and emulate my example. Best of luck to both of you. I have met many who have similarly given up smoking. My experience is not unique.
Thanks and congrats for your determination.Yogeshji,my hubby, had in 2015, left smoking for a short while after suffering from TB. But unfortunately the moment he was cleared he started again.
It started with a puff which he said was to show his self control and.... This time he is recovering from a spot of pneumonia.
His constant refrain is don't remind me.I am not thinking about it .If I tell myself that I am restricted then I will have a problem.
