  • Hello sharmalokesh79

It's good that you have got a control on your diabetes

Diet control and yoga are the best ways to manage diabetes

But for you it's better to keep an eye on your blood sugar level regularly.

  • You can not cure diabetes mellitus permanently. You can control Type 2 diabetes by low carbohydrate diet and aerobic exercises.

Over time, people who have diabetes and high blood sugar can develop serious or life-threatening complications, including heart disease, stroke, kidney problems, nerve damage, and eye problems.

Taking medication(s), making lifestyle changes (e.g., diet, exercise, quitting smoking), and regularly checking your blood sugar may help to manage your diabetes and improve your health. This

therapy may also decrease your chances of having a heart attack, stroke, or other diabetes-related complications such as kidney failure, nerve damage (numb, cold legs or feet; decreased sexual ability in men and women), eye problems, including changes or loss of vision, or gum disease. Your doctor and other healthcare providers will talk to you about the best way to manage your diabetes.

You should undergo the following periodical tests to maintain good health

A: HbA1c. HbA1c is a lab test that shows the average level of blood sugar (glucose) over the previous 3 months. It shows

how well you are controlling your diabetes.

B: Control your high Blood pressure, if any. Normal blood pressure- <120/80 mmHg.

    C: Control your blood Cholesterol: Normal cholesterol < 200 mg/dL. LDL <100 mg/dL HDL > 40 mg/dL Triglyceride < 150 mg/dL.

D: Diabetic education.Dental check-up should be done in every 6 months.

E: Eye examination for glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and cataract.

    F: Foot examination

G: Glucose monitoring. Fasting or postprandial blood sugar may be checked daily and avoid foods that elevates blood sugar.

H: Health maintenance immunization against influenza and pneumococcal pneumonia.

I: Indications for specialty care. Heart, kidney, eye should be checked periodically by concerned specialists.

    * Overall, the risk for death among people with diabetes is about twice that of people of similar age without diabetes.

    * Adults with diabetes have heart disease death rates about 2 to 4 times higher than adults without diabetes.

    * The risk for stroke is 2 to 4 times higher among people with diabetes.

  • There is no such hing as curing diabetes. You can only mage it to be within acceptable range. At present, you have good numbers because what you are doing at present is working to control your diabetes.Do not make any radical changes,Keep monitoring regularly and based on the trends, fine tune your efforts

  • Thanks

  • What Yoga asans a re you doing ?

what was A1C before six months -- last 3 or 4 readings ?

Are you monitoring at home ? after meal BS ?

If available in India ( I doubt it ) check Glycomark - blood test - should be above 10

    preferably above 12.

What is your age and BMI ?

Most times as you age - diabetes will come back or get out of control.

  • Kapalbhati & Pranayam

    Before 3 my A1C 8.2 average Blood Sugar 182

    My age 39 years

  • A1C - 8.2 is high. Average bs 182 is also high.

You should check your BS more frequently. fasting before breakfast, after breakfast, before lunch, one hour and two hours after lunch. Before dinner and one hour and two hours after dinner and at bedtime. At NO time after meal should be higher than 140 or 140 % of pre meal reading. Fasting should be under 100.

You did NOT mention BMI-- but if over weight-- good to reduce some weight slowly. Start exercise and follow LCHF diet.
