My fbs and ppbs are both high...129 and 169 despite taking 1500mg of metformin and 2 doses of 60mg sulphonylurea per day. Has anyone tried karela jamun juice, cinnamon, periwinkle flower etc for lowering bs levels and how much has it helped?

Yes!

It is helpful but not a treatment. I have tried curalin(Ayurvedic). But my tongue taste becomes very bitter.

So then I stopped.

Yes you can have karela juice everyday morning and evening before 30 mnts of lunch and dinner. PPBS will surely come down but it is not treatment it is just control.cinnamon is not helpful as per my experience. You can try Paneer phool too which is very effective and can be considered as a treatment bcz it's not only control sugar spike but also repairs pancreas beta cells. My HBA1C came down to 5.9 from 8.9 just by excercise, diet management and Paneer phool.you can search on internet about Paneer phool

Dear Derekris there are few herbs and herbal formulations which will help you to lower BS level..

However....nothing...even metformin and sulfonylurea drugs will help you if you do not curtail your carbs consumption...

Therefore it is suggested that along with daily atleast 30 mts exercise..reduce you carbs consumption below 100 Gms per day...

also while doing so it is suggested that you should check your BS with home glucose meter... once you see the results..you may reduce the dose of sulfonylurea with consultation of your doctor.

Thanks. Will try curtailing the carbs to 100g. My fbs and pps were 260 and 310 one month ago and I am obese. I have 2 small wheat phulkas(dry) and 3 tbsp oats for the day besides veggies and protein. Is exercise very important because I sometimes dont manage the 30 mins everyday. At what intervals should I check my BS readings with the glucometer. Is daily testing necessary?

Daily testing is suggested till you are adjusting your medication and diet to bring your sugar in normal range....
