Diabetes
I am on this drug last 2 months.long term usage results are not known to me.even I would like to know about it.it clears excess sugar of the body through kidneys.you pass excess suger through urination.i think it effects kidneys in long term usage.but full details are not known to me.any body had the knowledge should guide.
The kidney plays an important role in glucose balance, normally filtering about 180 gms of glucose each day with virtually all glucose being absorbed in the system. SGLT2 is the major glucose transporter in the kidney, responsible for reabsorption of glucose into the system. It is insulin independent pathway.
Foxiga (Dapaglifozin ) is selective inhibitor of this human SGlT2.,thereby it inhibits the reabsorption of glucose into system by the kidney and helps in glucose control.
Modern drugs like Invokana and Forexgia are in the class SGLT2 inhibitors. They must be quite costly and long term effects on human is not yet fully known fully. So better follow LCHF diet or LWMDR. The availability of long wheat is difficult and costly also.So follow LCHF and reduce drug dependency to the minimum.Ultimately probably I may land on insulin in in the long run.But by that time ,he might reach 70 to 80 years. So better follow what is known rather than unknown. Thanks.
