If carbs are 40gm/day then it is ketogenic diet. In such a diet how can one consume grains and jaggery.? :D

millet and buckwheat are not grains. they are seeds. jaggery is low glycemic...and we wanted to invite thoughts about this, not so much cans and cannots...:-)

Jaggery is not low glycemic. Millets and buckwheat both are high in carbs so they are not for diabetics who is on low carb diet.

There is only one 'can' in my post.

now i am following roughly less than 50gm carbs perday. I can not touch any type of grain. I get carbs mostly from green vegetables. even i have to be careful with nuts also. because it also carry protin and carbs. But the bottom line is control your sugar level.

thanks a lot for all the replies.

thank you shrisamarth for clarifying that jaggery is not low glycemic.

good info at mywellness.in/is-jaggery-be...

@shobag., my experience with jaggery is diffferent. when i add jaggery to my coffee/tea b.s rises by 5 points., whereas with sugar it raises by 15 points. ofcourse more jaggery means more b.s. but the spike is tapered off well.

thank you sridhare, this is what i noticed as well. i guess each body's processing capacity is different huh? :-)

@cscon i checked after 1hr and 2hrs both. a bit more jaggery than needed equals sugar rise.
