Just saying hello.

I have joined this group because I have decided to stop killing myself with my bad habits and lifestyle choices. I am 71 years young obese with hypertension and diabetes I also have a problem with alcohol. I joined the drink free group on here about eight months ago and it has certainly helped, so now I am hoping that with some support and advice from this group that I will be able to do the same thing here.

I have been concentrating on cutting down the drinking which I have always blamed for my poor health, but the diabetes and hypertension have been getting worse, so now I am also trying to eat healthily and do more exercise.

Progress is slow, thanks for asking. I am going through one of my determined phases at the moment, only drinking about 14 to 20 units a week. ( that's good for me).

I am also doing a keto diet which is helping, I have lost 18lbs but I am still morbidly obese. My BMI is 39.5

My hypertension and hba1c have improved slightly .

I find it difficult to say away from the booze and that leads me back to eating the wrong things.

Like I said, I am determined at the moment but I know that it will not last, especially with Christmas looming.

Did this the wrong way round, I looked at your bio and posts after I replied to you. Well it is 3am and even though I can't sleep I'm not at my sharpest 🥱. We are certainly alike in so many ways with so many similar problems.

Lack of motivation to exercise is one of my big issues, here in North East Scotland, we only have about 7 hours of daylight at the moment and a lot of cold rain and snow, so it's too easy to say I'll just stay in the warm.

You seem to be doing well on the low carb diet.

Good luck.
