Dear ShooterGeorge,

This is Balamurugan2282 from Chennai, I read all the comments, really I was surprised. I'm a diabetes since 3 years and my age is 33 now. My parents also diabetes since 10 years. I'm taking medicines for sugar. Can you suggest how to follow LWMDR regularly. So that I can refer my parents to follow this diet.

Have you tried LCHF?

Any quality of wheat will have carbs (take or give 1 or 2% here and there) so it will not make much difference unless you start restricting carbs. meenaraju posted about a forum for which only deals with LCHF for Indian diabetics, so you can see if that can help you. Here's the URL to her post:

You are petty young and if you don't take care, you are bound to be on insulin at some stage in your life.

Since you have signed up, you are at right place as far as as LCHF is concerned as you will find diabetics who live LCHF lifestyle and as meenaraju said people there share experience and guide.

I don't think any other diet has succeeded as much as LCHF across the world as far as diabetes management is concerned. Success is measured by reduction in sugar readings, A1C, reduction of drugs etc. You are young and have a long way ahead so control becomes all the more important.

Low Carb High Fat doesn't work for everyone! I am Type 2, metformin and now in pre-diabetic range. I've cut back on my carbs but not increased my fat intake as I've got gall stones and to increase fat in your diet when you have gastric problems is not a good idea and not recommended by my GP!

GP's never recommend FAT ever, even for those with no gallstones.

Balamurugan, there was reluctance to comment on your post as it was addressed to specific person. As comments are being put here, i also wish to share my views.

The most precious thing you have is your health, please take a very good care of it. To do this you have to understand what is diabetes. Once you have preliminary understanding you will know the role of diet in the management of diabetes. It is very important to understand how diet affects your blood sugar.

There are many diet regimen and all claim to have beneficial effect on blood sugar control. But in all diets one thing is common and that is restrict carbohydrate in diet. So please choose your diet which suits you, which is affordable and you can continue it for a long long time.

Good luck.

Hi patliputra, what you are said was 100% correct. What is my expectation was I want to cure my diabetes, is it possible? Many are giving their ideas, is it all works? I just want to follow any one of that, LCHF or LWMDR to cure or control my diabetes. Because, we all know wheat will maintain blood sugar, in LCHF and LWMDR they were suggested to have wheat, so what im very keen to follow those diets.

Hi,you are young and intelligent person and I have full believe that you can control your diabetes in a short time.As I have written earlier, restrict intake of carbohydrate and reduce it to minimum as far as possible. At the same time make some life style adjustments. For example go for a short run, brisk walk, some excercise against resistance etc,get a good night's sleep, try to avoid any tension or stress and most important please do not brood over diabetic infliction.

By the way you can search in diabetes india, the post' scientific basis of LWDR".to get first hand view.

Long wheat is not going to cure your diabetes and till date there is no cure for diabetes. It may help you in lowering your BS levels if they are high and it can benefit you in hunger pangs. But here also you have to count carbs and restrict them.

Hi shrisamarth, thanks. How can I reduce my sugar level to normal by having normal foods.

shrisamarth profile image
shrisamarth in reply tobalamurugan2282

First thing is to lower your carb consumption. Then you need to add slowly protein and fat to your diet as replacement to carbs. This type of diet is known as low carb high fat diet (LCHF). It is proven diet world over. Here on this forum many have benefited from it. You can try long wheat if it is available in your area.

What is your current diet? which drugs do you take?

balamurugan2282 in reply toshrisamarth

Hi shrisamarth, will long wheat controls sugar than other foods?

shrisamarth profile image
shrisamarth in reply tobalamurugan2282

It has to be compared with other grains. Though initially I consumed LW regularly, now I don't. I have found better options which give me better results than LW.

balamurugan2282 profile image
balamurugan2282 in reply toshrisamarth

Can u please tell me that better option.

balamurugan2282 - Only other option is to believe what your doctor says and be ready for insulin injections around 20 years down the line. Things will only go from bad to worse on conventional diet I am afraid, and I am also sure about it. Not just diabetes drugs, be prepared for drugs for hypertension, lipids etc also.

I noticed long wheat controlled blood sugar rapidly. I have not used it until cure, as I faced some side effects like, skin allergies. Otherwise it not only controlled my sugar but also BP within a few days itself. Kudos to Mr ShooterGeorge. Now I use once in a while and controlling with some allopathic and some ayurvedic, yoga and diet.
