My wife is diabetic and a blood sugar level of 3.5 is always considered too close to a possible hypo to be safe. Whenever we get such a reading we always do something to increase it. A piece of fruit or a small chocolate perhaps. Not too much, but enough to increase it to over 4. Our doctor entirely agrees with this.

If you where to be your sugar levels would be HIGH not low. You most properly suffer from general low blood sugars this does not mean you are diabetic. I am a type one and need insulin injects 5/6 times a day to have insulin in my body as my body does not produce otherwise would run high all the time . Hope that helps

Yes if you where a type 1 diabetic as your body wouldn't be producing insulin which would make your sugar levels high. The same in type 2 but this type is unfortunately a person life style and as horrible as it sounds own fault this can be reversed by loosing weight etc these diabetics take metaformin tables and sometimes small doses of insulin. Type one is a Chronic auto immune disease not curable. You will not be a diabetic with low sugars x

Hi E8989, I have Psoriasis and just been diagnosed with Hashimoto's I've been suffering with fatigue for such a long time and recently keep waking up early hours of the morning for snacks as I'm so hungry, I have a healthy diet and eat well. I had private bloods done recently my HBA1C - 29 mmol/mol (20.00 - 42.00) and my Insulin came back <0.4 mIU/L (2.60 - 24.90) I took the test in the morning after a cup of tea with one sugar and nothing else is this a sign of type 1 diabetes I'm not sure what signs to look for. would be grateful for any help.

Hiya sorry I am not sure what hasimotos is? From your mgs no I would defo say not diabetic your HBA1C is low diabetics aim for for less than 50. Your tests also are fine if you where diabetic your BMS would be in excessive on +25 and even show a HI signal on meter I would suggest having s snack b4 bed and also getting tested for anaemia and iron deficiently as both can make you very tiered all the best x

Thank you so much for your reply its put my mind at ease. Hashimoto's is a thyroid disease - autoimmune, my consultants missed it I had a private ultrasound which shows I have it. I have 3 autoimmune diseases and was worried I might have type one diabetes and they missed that too. Yes I do have B12 deficiency and get injection every 3 months, my ferritin was low and also my vitamin D have got the levels up now. I will have that snack before bed, thanks again x

Oh I see well I honestly I wouldn't worry about type 1 diabetes your levels do not mirror at all. Oh that's good glad you have injections yes a bed time snack is always nice hehehe! X

I have to take objection with you about Type 2 it is not always about lifestyle and people do not always bring it on themselves. If that was the case every obese person would have it.

There is so much more involved than just being fat. Most type 2 inherit the disease some have other autoimmune problems.

I have never been heavily overweight and losing weight does not work for everyone despite what is said in the news.

You seem to have fallen in the trap of believing what the media want you to think, which is if type 2 lose weight then they can reverse it well that is just not true.

Diabetes can not be reversed only put in remission.
