glucose blood
Hi, this is what I have for recommended target levels.
before meals
Non-diabetic--------- 4.0 to 5.9 mmol/L--- (72 -106.2 mg/dl)
Type 2 ------------------ 4 to 7------------------ (72 -126)
Type 1------------------ 4 to 7------------------ (72 - 126)
Children type 2------ 4 to 8------------------- (72 -144)
After meals
Non diabetic under 7.8 (140.4)
Type 2 under 8.5 (153)
Type 1 under 9. (162)
Children type 2 under 10 (180)
If this shows as muddled, its because I can't make a proper table, the format won't let me. Sorry.

many thanks jan my son is non diabetic his level was 3.5 am not sure if they class that as low x
That figure is low even for non-diabetic persons. Make an appointment to see your GP as soon as you can. For an insulin dependant diabetic (I am) such a figure would mean that there is a very good chance that you would slip into a diabetic coma which almost invariably is fatal. I have no desire to frighten you; I am simply attempting to be truthful to you.

is there treatment for low blood sugar?
The treatment for low blood sugar levels is to eat something highly rich in sugar such as glucose tablets followed by a sandwich. But this is only from the perspective of being diabetic. Other medical issues may affect the blood glucose levels, but you would have to consult your GP regarding that. When you take a reading of your blood and your meter gives a low or high figure the advice is to wash your hands thoroughly then wait around ten minutes and then repeat the test. If the number comes up as the same as the first testing then you need medical attention. The normal (that is to say non-diabetic) reading should fall between 4 and 6. Hope this helps.

The real question is why did you test for sugar in the first place? What led you to believe you needed to test him?
