High blood pressure

I’m new here. Recently this year I’ve had 4 pressure readings Dys 133 to 152, Sys 90 to 106. Have a family history of heart problems. I have started to try and lower this with a few lifestyle changes, change of diet, exercise etc. Just need any advice whether anyone else has managed to do this or needed some medication to help further. Any help much appreciated 👍

When was your last appointment? Did your doctor say anything about going on blood pressure medication?

I actually tried to make an appointment to see doctor or phone consultation. Waited 2 hours on phone for them to cut me off! My surgery has a triage system. Will have to try again tomorrow.

What are the hours of the doctor’s office?

They shouldn’t have cut you off on the phone. Can you get a referral for a new doctor?

I'm thinking of just signing up for new surgery my friend. It'll be a bit of a hassle but probably worth it in long run 👍

A routine check up in May ‘19 found that I had extremely high readings . I was put on a 48hr monitor which confirmed I had high readings. I was put on blood pressure medication and have to say I have been through a lot of them to find one that suits me. I am in my 40’s and not really over weight, I have started 3 exercise classes a week and when I recently stopped taking my medication for a week and then took a pressure reading it had gone right up high again. So it seems I will have to take the medication. Initially I was reluctant to take the medication as I was told it was for life and had the impression they would be life changing, but in fact they have had little impact apart from bringing my blood pressure down to a healthy reading.

Hi my friend I'm on Lisinopril now and been on them a week. Feel a bit better but still feel a little weird if I'm honest. Left arm feels a little tight sometimes but trying not to stress over it too much. I try and walk at least once a day to get some steps in as struggle to walk too far due to disability. I do the best I can 👍Going to have a review with doctors when my tablets are finished to see if there is any improvement.
