HbA1c results

I am getting sick and tired of being made to feel I am the only Type 1 diabetic who cannot achieve a "good result". I am looking for Type 1 diabetics who will state what range their HbA1c is for example my lowest has been 7.9 and my highest 8.9. Can you please post what yours are. Many thanks.

I am not sure why you have sent me this link!!!

My question was asking type 1 diabetics what their HbA1c range is.

Sorry @mags4743,

I should have been more specific.

I myself am not Type 1.

That said, there is mention of Dr Bernstein's book "Diabetes Solution" in the link that I have provided. He is a Type 1.The book is really worth a read in case you have not read it.

Thanks

Thank you. I am sure the book is very good, but it won't answer the question I am asking.

@mags4743 ,

Since, from your response it appears you have not gone through the book, Whether it answers your question or not, if you have the time or not, I would still request you to go thro the book.

Thanks

Hba1c level is not dependent on type of diabetes. It has to be <5.7 to avoid most of the BS related complications.

YOUR REPLY DOES NOT ANSWER THE QUESTION I ASKED. THE INFORMATION YOU HAVE GIVEN IS WELL DOCUMENTED AND I AM AWARE OF THIS INFORMATION. PLEASE LOOK AT THE QUESTION AGAIN... ARE YOU DIABETIC?

I am in UK and don't pay huge sums of money to doctors. I am afraid there is a vast difference between type 1 and 2 and we do not have type 3 in the UK. I think we refer to it as type 1 with insulin resistance. The range is the same for ALL but I am only interested in HbA1c readings for type 1 and thus far have not received any answers from anyone ON THAT SUBJECT. What I want to know won't be found in any book - no matter how good it is.

I have been diabetic type 1 for over 15 years and I know already the information you have provided. This is not the answer to the question I asked.

I think your result aren't as bad as your think, my daughter is Type 1, 14years, diagnosed 3years ago- for the first year her # monthly HbA1c fell in the 7-8 range, for the last 2 years its been 9-10, sometimes up to 12- not good at all, food, exercise, and great team of professional helping -still no improvement. We moved, things changed - Hormones etc- now all we have is hypo's - thats very scary, 1.8 - 2.2- but having said that she is now in range- under 8. What I have observed is that- exercise, intense study, and stress, hormones all effect her readings- and at present they cause hypo's. Don't just look at your intake- check your exercise, stress level etc- they can send you high or low- we have experienced both. We don't pressure or stress anymore- Diabetes is hard enough, good luck.

Thanks Chillibean for your reply. You are the only person who has given a proper answer to the question I asked!

I also didn't think my readings were that bad - hence my question to other Type 1 diabetics, but as you will see from the responses to my question, nobody (other than you) has given me the answer I asked for.

I am a "senior" with diabetes and I often feel sorry for myself, but when I hear of youngsters like your daughter my heart goes out to them.

Thank you again for your response and I wish your daughter all the best and I am sure with a parent like you she will do o.k.

Yes we have lowered insulin- This was the "old" -B/fast nova-rapid-10 Lunch- nova rapid 6-7 Dinner Nova-Rapid10-12. Long acting (24hr) Lantas 30. On this program- we were high all the time????

This is the "now" B/fast N/Rapid 3 Lunch 3-4 Dinner 3-4 24 hr Lantas 23. Now we are Low always after dinner. Reading just drive.

We carb count- old routine exchange was 15 to 1 -the new exchange is 10 to 1- this is by diabetes team. Her eating pattern hasn't really changed- but much more study (Stress over exams) and exercise. I know it will settle down. Was just responding to mags4743- cause it is important to share bad readings and results- so others don't feel alone, most diabetic's know the health risks- its nice to know others have a hard time getting BGL's in check as well, than you can re-access,

pick up and move forward confidently.
