Mom's energy level is dropping. She started the Amantadine at Easter. It was wonderful, but now she's tired. Will it get better again.

She does look better in her face, younger even. But she's back to staying at home, worn-out, even though the tremors have improved. I'm worried about the weakness. Does anyone have the same experiences?

I don't have the stamina I use to have. I know that I need to get as much sleep as I can.

The first several years on my meds I slept all of the time. My husband had to do all of the housework.

Changed my meds. I now have a life, but need to pace myself.

I use Amantadine together with other drugs and have been doing for 4 to 5 years. I was told by one Neurologist that since there is no obvious benefit in taking Amantadine (I took it inititiallly for tremor and it had no effect) I should cut it out but I ran out of energy when I did so restarted it and the combination of drugs seem to work with me

I would have the Amantadine re checked I was also told there is no good benifit from taking it but it may better for your MOM,(Med changes are hard , ask her first because changes can be scary) there must be a good reason to take it or I would look for a second opinon. A second opinion gave me back my life. When I say this it means I was so over medicated by another doctor/& clinc I could barely function. I've had PD 9 yrs and I sleep only when tired LOL my stamina stinks and why do the discount stores have such large areas to walk, I have to plan may every move when I go to a discount store. HATE IT!!

A 5th opinion gave me my life back. I tried going off of Amantadine, but decided that I'm doing well and don't want to change anything. I've haven had to change meds in 2 years. :)

I have to force myself to go out every day. Thank goodness for PD exercise classes that keep me moving. I'm actually enjoying this summer, not like last where I was trapped in the house. Walking class convinced me I should walk (with walker) because losing muscle mass. I had to stop taking vitamins because no energy. I am looking for magic diet that will cure constipation and give me all nutrients needed for energy and sleep!

Exercise has played a major role in helping me.

I grind my wheat and them make bread. Lots of fiber, helps with constipation.
