my husband has been diagnosed with Menier's Disease. he feels that the ear not being able to drain properly is a relation to PD. The doctores did not say this but...... if he drools now and his body can not control this properly anymore due to PD then why would it not be the same for his ears? I agree with my husband. I think it is due to PD. He did not ever have hearing problems before PD. When he asked the doctors about it being related they say,"we are not sure. There is no studies showing this relation."

P.S. to my asnwer: He is now on a diaretic to dry up the extra fluid in his ears. He is still having problems hearing though. He can't tell which direction a sound is coming from and he can't hear me well anymore. I have to repeat alot.

Poor directional discernment will come about whenever one ear is deafer than the other. We are binaural animals and need two good--or, at least, comparable--ears to sense direction of a sound source. In my case, severe hearing loss in one ear came as the result of a concussion 47 years before I was dx'd with Parkinson's. The same directional loss should arise from one ear being full of fluid. I think in most cases it has nothing to do with brain changes or dementia, though the latter could certainly add to the confusion if they were also present. The good news is that if the hearing is restored (by hearing aid, or medical treatment), I believe the directionality will come back.

Actually, I find this is interesting. I have never seen anything about hearing being affected, but my hearing is certainly not as good as it used to be. Wonder if there is any connection?

Hi, my husband was diagnosed nearly four years ago and for the last six months he has had a beige watery fluid run from his ears when he sleeps at night, staining the bedding. He isn't aware it's happening untill we see it in the morning. This happens about once a month. Does anybody else have this?

No fluid that we see coming from my husband's ears. But he says he feels fluid moving down deep in his ears.

Good morning everyone ... My husband has worn a hearing aid in his left ear for a long .time ..

It's his right side mostly affected by Parkinson's and it's his right ear that weeps and itchy's.

It seems to build up a lot of scaly skin . I think it has a lot to do with Seborrhea dermatitis which also seems to be one of the many symptons . I put an ear plug in when he showera make sure it is dryand use a little spot af cream such as Betnovate or Sudacreme as neccessry. His rea can become quite sore and painful ..

Hpe this has been some use to you .

By the way my husband has the directional problem is always asking me if I have said something and it has been someone on the TV . ...

I have been diagnosed with PD and also have a hearin loss. hummm thought prehaps it might be heredity from my mother, as she had a hearing loss. Will have my physician check and find out. Once i have more info, will post here.

I don't think PD has anything to do with hearing loss. Most people start losing hearing as they grow older. I've had hear aids for 10 years or more, and I was dx with Parkinsons about two years ago. See no relation.

I've never heard or read of a link. I don't think there is except for the dermatitis cabbage cottage mentions. If a person has discharging ears that is likely to be a sign of infection I would have thought and needs medical attention.

I wonder if anyone with young onset PD has hearing problems?
