Report back: Tanganil

It is now almost 3 months my hwp has been on low dose ( 1,500mg) Tanganil.

He is 77 , diagnosed 2018. With hindsight there were symptoms for some years. He has struggled with stress tremor and bradykinesia. Most debilitating has been sciatic nerve pain.

There has been marked improvement. He is faster. I had not realised how quiet he had become until recently it dawned on me how chatty he was now, how much he is reading again. How often he laughs. I had also , I think become used to the parkinson's mask. Now his face is mobile and expressive. As I post this , I need to remind myself and all out there that as we always say this is a snowflake disease. My hwp is one of those for whom B1 has not been what it has for others. We are going to try Benfotiamine now . Let me also add that for three weeks he has been following the eating plan from Laurie Mischley self reporters.

In a week or so he will stop with Tanganil and start on N acetyl L Leucine powder. Tanganil is not available here in South Africa and can so far not be bought and imported. A family member brought Tanganil in from France for us.

He is on C/L : 25/100 mg tabs 4 and 1/2 per day. Stack includes cinnamon, PEA with luteolin. Vit C powder. B12, D3, B2, B6 ( P5P) .

This is fabulous news! Thank you for sharing it with us.

Has your husband himself commented that he notices a difference in how he feels, except for the sciatic pain?

Did his hand dexterity improve?

How many capsules of Tanganil is 1500 mg?

It's 3 capsules. Yes, he himself has noticed a difference. And no, the stress tremor is still there. But general all through the day tremor not bad at all. And the sciatic pain is also improved. Let me clarify that: he had a hip op a few years back because it was determined/ thought that was the cause of the pain. Well, it wasn't. His hand dexterity has remained good. He can make small detailed drawings for eg if he works with concentration. Like John Pepper and his painting.

In a later comment (below) you mention "N acetyl l leucine from Marknature", just to be sure -- Is he is taking Tanganil or N acetyl l leucine?

He has been taking Tanganil. Will now switch to N acetyl L leucine. Losing the D enantiomer ( hope I have that correct) which might make it safer in the long term. There is a discussion on this somewhere on the site

Indeed, sounds like excellent excellent result!! Maybe you're relative can bulk mail it to you.

Yes. We considered that. Read on this site that customs in the US destroyed tanganil when imported. Our son would have to courier it to us and i worried that our customs would also object to its importation. Added to that there is that possible issue of the D enantiomer. When i try to buy tanganil off sites that sell it , it instantly has a pop up that says : can't ship to your destination

Is that 1.5 grams (1500 mg)? Does he take it once a day? With food or empty stomach?

ghoegap profile image
ghoegap in reply toJayPwP

Yes, And takes it in divided doses. In the morning it will be way before food and after food in the evening. Midday will be catch as catch can

Sounds familiar! Why did he take such a low dose? The instructions for Tanganil state that it is OK to take up to 4 g per day for 6 weeks. I did a cure for 12 weeks with 5 grams without getting any side effects.

Sure, but that is you. We started very slow because it is tough to come back from a bad reaction, and his system over reacts easily. Glad it worked out so well for you. I am for sure not calling this a cure. It is a very nice improvement.

I haven’t called it a cure either, in my post I had the headline ”Cure?”

Just wondered.

Hello ghoegap, thank you. My dad has Parkinson’s. We have also put him on the B, C and D vitamins (as well as high absorption curcumin, fish oil), and red light therapy. Could you please also share where you buy the N acetyl l leucine powder and PEA with luteolin from? Given the safety profiles, we would also like to experiment with these. Thanks for sharing your experience.

PEA with Luteolin from amazon.com. N acetyl l leucine from Marknature. These meds and the suppliers are my choice but buyer beware and take care as you go. Read dosages etc careful and read a lot on this site. Many people here more knowledgeable and with real scientific insight. My hwp uses 1,100 mg PEA with luteolin per day. If you are in Europe the tanganil will be easier to do a test drive with. If your dad is able and willing don't forget exercise. We also feel good about the Mischley eating plan. Take a look if you haven't already. Every good wish

Thank you ghoegap. Yes, exercise a key part - he has started going to the gym (also after a hip op) now 3x per week. I’ll have a look at the Mischley eating plan as well, thanks. So far, his diet has been difficult to change.

Yes , it is hard to change how we eat. If you look at the eating plan and think it has some merit, maybe you and your dad could watch one of her videos together. She is really good at explaining the issues

Wanted to say too that I wanted to post this report here in gratitude for people in this space who alert all of us to whatever is new or possibly helpful out there. And with thanks to the science warriors, those who understand what they read in the studies and who generously share their time and knowledge with the rest of us.

this is exciting news! I am ordering N acetyl L leucine from Amazon. Pills are 800 mg each. Bottle says one per day, is this a good dosage? Anyone have any experience using it?

I searched Amazon for N acetyl L leucine and nothing came up. Would you post a link?

That link says N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine not N-acetyl-L-leucine. I take NAC.

I would prefer a Cap instead of a powder. I am taking 3/8 of tsp NALL (approx. 1100 mg 3 times daily). No side effects and helps me with anxiety which I have a big problem with.

I thought I posted that there was a difference, sorry about that. I asked AI about the differences.. and they are similar enough for me to try..

Thank you for sharing. Can you please share where I can purchase this product Do you take in the morning

I am not sure if the D is non-active. There was a post by I think PDTom that the D may play a roll. As for as safety, Tanganil has been around for awhile and is therefore shown to be safe.
