Immune suppression proposed as way to slow Parkinson’s progression

Interesting:
"While azathioprine couldn’t cross the blood–brain barrier, which is the semipermeable membrane that protects the brain from infections and blocks many medications, it acted indirectly to slow brain inflammation. The results showed it suppressed immune activity, this way helping to reduce inflammatory signals reaching the brain.
There were no major safety concerns related to immunosuppressive therapy."
There is an obvious major safety concern that needs to be monitored when using immunosuppressive therapy. Perhaps they did monitor this and did not have any adverse results in the patients tested.
It would seem that a medication that did cross the blood-brain barrier would get better results and require a lower dosage.
Or for there to be more research into why there is so much activation of the immune system, and resultant inflammation, in the first place. The 'blaming the fireman because they're attending a fire' analogy springs to mind.
This makes sense to me as I believe PD is an autoimmune disease. That is why I stay far away from Ashwagandha: it is a super-antigen (it supercharges your immune system).
I also concentrate on lowering viral titers and eating an anti-inflammatory diet (with Pepsi with real sugar and some ice cream with real sugar).
I take Ashawhanda regularly. What other supplement you suggest which is good for autoimmune disease?
Cinnamon is anti-inflammatory and is helpful in Parkinson's. My report here: healthunlocked.com/cure-par...
N-Acetyl Cysteine has been shown to be helpful in Parkinson's at high doses: healthunlocked.com/cure-par...
And is anti-inflammatory: scholar.google.com/scholar?...
First let me link you to Frank Church's blog. Frank is a super smart pathologist diagnosed with PD a few years ago.
Here is a link to Frank's medication and supplement protocol: journeywithparkinsons.com/2...
Here is Frank's article on why he stopped taking Ashwagandha: journeywithparkinsons.com/2...
